The past year was a time of great strides for Uconnex Community Services, as a dedicated provider of disability services. As we grew as a company in terms of our numbers, we also grew our vision and dream. We wanted to do more, be better; for our clients, the people out there who needed our services, and the wonderful team that make it happen every day.
Mission
Our mission is to empower individuals with disabilities to lead fulfilling lives by providing comprehensive support and services through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). We are committed to promoting independence, inclusion, and equality for all participants, fostering a society that values and respects diversity.
Vision
Our vision is to be a leading NDIS provider, recognized for our excellence in delivering person-centered care and support. We strive to create a society where individuals with disabilities have equal opportunities, enabling them to reach their full potential and participate actively in all aspects of life. Through innovation, collaboration, and compassionate service, we aim to make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of our participants and their families.
The perfect opportunity to bring these points to the forefront arose during our mid-year conference, which focused on four critical areas: internal improvement, leadership, management, and a strategic future. The hosts are our key personnel's Uconnex - CEO and COO who lead the company with innovative ideas and huge passion to make people different in their quality of life.
Through multiple discussions, there was a noteworthy focus on improving internal processes and performance across our 4 departments:
HR: Investigated ways to up-skill our talent with the latest technologies at our disposal, maintaining and creating safe environments for our clients/employees.
SIL: The Supported Independent Living initiative focused on ensuring that we can provide our clients with the freedom they deserve to make their own living choices. With our establishment of 20 new SIL houses, we progressed further with discussions about funding, training and awareness.
SDA: Our Specialist Disability Accommodation project saw milestones this year with 3 big projects starting operations in Shepparton, Bendigo, and Melbourne. These houses are designed to providing a living space dedicated for people with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs in mind. Like the SIL project, we focused our energies into expanding the project to reach a larger clientele base, looking into different pathways and talent we could utilise.
Leadership: Our CEO James (spot him below!) educated employees about different leadership tactics, including adopting flexible leadership styles, fostering productive employee relationships, conflict resolution, and effective coordination of resources.
As the meeting drew to a close, we looked back at our achievements and opened the floor to sharing experiences. Part of what makes us stronger is not just our ability to work on our strategies but also celebrate the milestones that have been made so far. And boy, there really were many!
At the end of the day, we at Uconnex are a well-fuelled machine because our employees, who are from a multitude of diverse backgrounds. They come together to enact the vision of being the best NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) service provider in regional Victoria. The mid-year conference marked the beginning of a newer company that only looks to improve itself, because that is our culture.
